The Best Time to Visit Kuala Lumpur Malaysia

Malaysia has always been on my travel radar but when is the best time to visit Kuala Lumpur? The answer is now, worrying about when and why only get in the way. So, after visiting Phuket Thailand I needed a stop on the way to Bali Indonesia. Kuala Lumpur made perfect sense and I was no longer going to worry when.

Arrival into Kuala Lumpur was very similar to many other Asian cities except the airport was massive. Kuala Lumpur International airport is the largest airport in Asia for budget airlines. It is rather luxurious and well lept up. I found my way to the front very easily and was able to get an Uber without any issues. 

The city of Kuala Lumpur is very nice and has some massive buildings. The best thing about Malaysia is the prices. I was able to get a room at a 3-star hotel for 25$ right in the middle of downtown across from the train station. Now, let me clarify that this 4-star hotel may not be what you are expecting to see. A 3-star hotel in New York or Singapore may be a bit fancier but for me this was perfect. 

The Rainbow Stairs

Kuala Lumpur is an amazing city and the downtown area offered so many different food options, accommodations, and attractions. However, the bread & butter attraction for myself was the Rainbow Stairs. When you travel a lot many attractions begin to become underwhelming that you may expect to be amazing. The Rainbow stairs were not one of those. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated. 

The Rainbow Stairs are the entranceway to the Batu Cave Temple. The 272 steps are painted in an eye-catching rainbow pattern. The colors are just part of the appeal of this attraction. As I began walking up the stairs I began seeing monkeys everywhere. Not 1 or 2 but 40 and 50 monkeys up in down the stairs. These monkeys were a bit nicer than the ones in South Africa but you still had to make sure you kept your icecream away or they would snatch it. 😆 

Monkey’s Everywhere

As I began my climb to the top I started interacting with the monkeys because they were so friendly. The round-trip journey should only take around an hour or two but mine lasted for 5+ hours. Playing with monkeys is amazing but always be careful because they are sneaky. The Rainbow Stairs is also about timing. Arriving at the stairs early in the morning is not always the best because every tourist thinks that way. I arrived a few hours before sunset and it was amazing. Be sure to plan out your timing. 

Why Visit Kuala Lumpur?

The city of Kuala Lumpur offers everything that a tourist needs to have an amazing time. The city offers cheap accommodations, animals to interact with. mind-blowing attractions, limitless food options, and Dinner-In-The-Sky-Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur should make any tourists list if they are traveling around Asia. My Air Asia plane ticket from Phuket to Kuala Lumpur was 19$ USD. Add it to your list and enjoy yourself. 😀
