Are you in Paris? Perhaps an Eiffel Tower Picnic of Love?

A Picnic of Love Awaits 💖

I don’t think people picnic enough these days. It is an amazing outdoor activity, not to mention an amazing date setting. Perhaps it’s because the grass is itchy or maybe our cities are lacking the picturesque spots that make picnics so romantic. Regardless of the reasons, I think a picnic of love has a great ring to it. I think picnics should be happening more often and this goes double if you get the chance to have an Eiffel Tower picnic. 

Paris is another story altogether. The City of Love earned its nickname with many romantic picnics occurring all over the city. Okay, I may have made that last part up but it was worth a shot. 😆 Each neighborhood in Paris does, in fact, have its own, sophisticated charm. There are countless hidden parks that make for great picnic spots all over Paris.

This whole picnic conversation came about during my last stay in Paris because the service was so bad at this restaurant. While a few people were complaining at the table this loud guy at the table next to us said, “Go for a picnic next time instead.” 😆 Honestly, I couldn’t stop laughing at first but then I thought about it. What makes a picnic so amazing?

These are just a few reasons to organize a picnic of love 💖

• Firstly, NO WAITERS or WAITRESSES or other diners watching over you, so it’s more intimate and the romanticism can just happen.
• You are not on a schedule to pay the bill and move on, so you can eat and talk for as long as you like. Nobody is going to push you out. 
• Buying the picnic necessities yourself is far cheaper than paying for meals at a restaurant. 
• The extra effort will equal brownie points with your partner for sure

Steps for the perfect Eiffel Tower picnic

1. Picking the Perfect Spot

Well, that was easy. If you are in Paris I think the spot choice is going to be relatively easy. However, even if you can’t whisk your date off to Paris, there’s no reason you can’t recreate some of the same atmospheres. A great view is always a fundamental step for choosing a great picnic date spot. 

Remember………

• Open countryside
• Trees, lawns, and gardens
• A beautiful skyline
• Attractive landmarks
• A waterway, river or lake

You should not be able to see your bedroom window if this is the first date 😆 

Next, try to avoid people as much as you can, getting off the beaten path a little bit is a great start but remember it is important that you’re in a comfortable setting. Your date needs to be 100% comfortable with the location. The grass is not the only option. Sand can be a great option as well. 

2. Back to Paris & the Picnic Packing List

The perfect picnic packing list can be quite in-depth but a basic picnic list only contains a few essential items. 

• plastic plates
• silverware
• two tumbler glasses can help keep drinks warm or cool dependent upon what is needed
• napkins
• wine opener (don’t forget, yes it has happened haha)
• a small trash bag for all trash (leave no trace)
• food can include anything but cheese, fruits & vegetables, and crackers are go-to items for me

Paris is a very accessible town but once you have found your perfect spot the last thing you want to do is have to walk 20 minutes to the closest supermarket. Yes, you will be walking a while if you are picnicking next to the Eiffel Tower. Don’t be the guy that arranges the perfect date to only forget the wine opener. I may be saying this from personal reasons and no a fork and a rock will not work. 😆 

The Most Important Picnic Item

Blanket, Blanket, Blanket is a must-have. Gentleman please do not bring a towel and think that is sufficient. That is a common rookie mistake and it will be noticed. First of all, the towel is not big enough for both of you to sit on and that is part of the romance. Also, if you chose the right size blanket it can allow for a cover when she gets cold as the night winds down. Finding the perfect blanket will take you an extra hour or so one day before the date. Head down to your local thrift/vintage store and find your blanket.

P.S. Wash your blanket before the date. 😆
