                Travel blogging is a profession in which an experienced traveler shares their experience in travel with the world through a blog on the world wide web. 😆 I know that sounds like a Wikipedia answer, but I wanted to start off with a basic and simple definition. Bloggers come in all shapes and sizes from all over the world and write about numerous travel topics. Travel blogger jobs can focus on luxury travel, budget travel, travel foods, and just about any other travel-related topic you can imagine.

Personal Opinion

                Personally, I write about travel destinations, budget travel, digital nomad lifestyle, and animal encounters. Sharing travel knowledge with my readers has always been a way for me to get my views and opinion on travel topics out into the world wide web and if that helps travelers along the way then that is a win-win in my book. I really like using the words “world wide web.” 😆

                If you decide that you want to give travel blogging a go then you need to first find your angle. An angle is simply the perspective that you are going to take when you write on travel topics. A proper angle is what separates successful travel bloggers and those who try it out for a month before realizing it isn’t their cup a tea. A travel blogger can share tips on personal preference, traveling types, accommodation, budget traveling, etc. The key is to find an under-reported topic that people want to hear about but can’t find information about. A proper angle will take time, research, and persistence to find. A travel blog does not start making money overnight.

                Travel blogging is a profitable niche, but it is also very competitive. The one big advantage of travel blogging is that there are hundreds of angles and hundreds of countries to write about. The opportunity is there but you have to find your angle.  

Can I Get a Job as a Travel Blogger?

                I would like to say anyone can be a travel blogger but that is simply not true. If you want to write about traveling, then you have to have or know someone with experience in traveling. I have met a few bloggers along the way that did not even travel but had successful blogs, how is that possible? They found their angle, their angle was interviewing travelers and then writing about the interviewee’s experience while traveling. Where there is a will there is a way! Inviting different travelers to share their experiences is one of many interesting angles I have come across throughout my travels.

                With every angle, there will be pros and cons. As an avid traveler, you will be able to share firsthand knowledge and people can invest their time into your experiences. Giving personal stories is always a great addition to any blog. A travel blogger’s goal should be to develop a personality within the blog that readers want to follow. Allow readers to feel connected with you as you share your stories. Remember, travel blogging will take time to develop your angle and begin to attract readers. This is not a get rich quick overnight scheme, I can assure you that personally. 😆 

How to start Travel Blogging

                Starting a blog is the easiest part but many people make it out to be the hardest. Getting off your butt and writing your first article should not be hard but people tend to make in nearly impossible. The process is simple and can be done in an hour for less than 12$ 

1. Buy a domain from a host – Bluehost or GoDaddy 11.99$
2. Go on the host and click START WEBSITE
3. Pick a website/blog theme
4. Write your first blog
5. Start watching YouTube videos to make your website/blog better

The Travel Blogging Start is Completed

                That is all that has to be done to begin. That is how easy this process is to get started. Getting started is the easy part but as you continue your blogging journey you will find that as people begin to read your blog and say good things you will gain momentum. Reach out and share your blog with your friends and family on all social media platforms. All social media platforms have value, not some platforms but all of them!

                Another tip I was given, and it really made a big difference starting out was, “In the beginning try and keep your blogs happy, positive, and optimistic.” When you are trying to gain a following it is much easier to gain a following through happiness than through negativity. I know we can all think of a few people that became internet famous by being negative but those are the outliers and not the norm. 

                It is important that you keep writing and keep publishing blogs continuously regardless of your initial success. Keep sharing them with everyone on all social media and the following will come. Many bloggers give up way too early because they do not have instant success within the first few months. Blog success will take time but if you are continuously learning and educating yourself on blogs then your blog will continuously evolve.

                I try and add or improve something on my website every day. I am in a continuous learning mode and I personally love it. Blogging needs to be something you love doing not something you do for money, if you are after money from blogging then you may have chosen the wrong street to turn left on. 😆 Another tip I wanted to throw out there was on advertisements. Advertisements can allow your blog to grow faster but it will cost more. Advertisements do not instantly change your blog and give you millions of followers. Even advertisements will take months to kick in.

Why be a Travel Blogger?

                The answer is simple, to share your travel knowledge, travel experience, and your travel stories with the world. An added bonus is if you are able to make money doing this. Being successful in travel blogging can be compared to becoming a pro athlete, comically of course ha-ha. It takes thousands and thousands of hours of learning and perfecting the art the best you can and still you may not be able to make a living doing it.

                If a travel blogger wants to be successful then they have to keep producing content readers want to read. A successful travel blog is not about just your opinion. It is about providing something that someone wants to read. In many cases, a travel blogger’s worst enemy can be themselves. Learning to remove yourself out of your own way is the first step to becoming a truly great travel blogger.

Pros and Cons of Travel Blogger Jobs

                There are many pros and a few cons when looking at travel blogging from an outside perspective. Below I compile a small list of both pros and cons to take into account for pursuing travel blogger jobs:

Pros:

• You will be able to tell your story to the world.
• You will be able to share your travel knowledge and help others.
• The ability to share ideas and inspire ideas in others.
• This will enhance your writing abilities.
• You can make money from your website and or blog.

Cons:

• You need a lot of time to write.
• Writing is not an easy skill to master, and it will be frustrating at times.
• You need a small amount of investment to start the blog.
• It will take a lot of time to become profitable.

                Travel blogger jobs can be profitable in more ways than one. Sharing your travel experience can inspire people around the world. Your story has the potential to reach an unlimited number of people across the globe. However, it is important to remember that this process will take time, effort, ambitions, and a continuous desire to want to move forward. Blogging is a form of expression that anyone from anywhere can perform but only those who put in the time and dedication will be truly successful.
