Is Buenos Aires Safe During the World Cup

Buenos Aires has a lot of World Cup fans

The first question I am often ask is whether on not Buenos Aires was safe? To be honest, I walked around the entire city for over a week at all times and never had a single problem. I think as a whole Buenos Aires is rather safe but always be observant of your surroundings. Buenos Aires is the capital and largest city in Argentina. I can sit here and tell you that Buenos Aires does, in fact, have some amazing steak. This is the first thing that a lot of people think about when pondering about Buenos Aires. However, I can sit here and tell you that Buenos Aires is so much more than their steak.

World Cup in Buenos Aires

I was fortunate enough to be in Buenas Aires during a world cup and I could not imagine a crazier place at that time. Everyone is decked out in their official fan gear. Boys, girls, dads, moms, grandpas, and grandmas are decked out in the baby blue and white uniforms ready to cheer on their team. When the games would come on every single television you saw had the game one. It was quite a magical place.

There are many hostels located throughout the city and the majority of them are centrally located. I walked close to 20 miles over the week I was there and never ran into a bit of trouble. The city felt rather safe and the people were welcoming for the most part. I do speak some Spanish so that helped but I also heard English in some places. I would recommend learning some Spanish before going to Argentina because without it could prove to be problematic.

My Top 2 Tourist Attractions 

The number #1 tourist attraction is Teatro Colon, in the City of Buenos Aires, and it is considered one of the best theaters in the world. It was magnificent inside and out. They have shows going on daily so there are many ways you can see the inside of the theater. My #2 tourist attraction may seem to be a bit different than Teatro Colon but I really enjoyed it. Number 2 is  Bosques de Palermo. Bosques de Palermo is the oldest park in Buenos Aires. It is open to the public and great for just relaxing and reading a book.  😀

Overall, Buenos Aires is an amazing city and defiantly worth seeing. Also, you can utilize this city to get to many other locations. I’ll speak about this in another one of my blogs discussing how you can take the Buenos Aires to Montevideo ferry route which connects Argentina with Uruguay.
