San Juan del Sur Nicaragua “A Nicaraguan Gem”

Nicaragua had already provided two amazing stops, could there be a third. San Juan del Sur Nicaragua made the trifecta. San Juan del Sur is a beautiful fishing village and a magnet for surfers and sunbathers. This Nicaraguan city was an amazing find and I think many travelers may overlook San Juan del Sur Nicaragua due to its geographical location secluded out on the western seaside.

San Juna del Sur Nicaragua Hostel Life

Let us start off by talking about the three hostels I spent time out. One of them needs no introduction and that is the NAKED TIGER. This hostel is huge and positioned on a cliff overlooking the city and has a huge pool for mingling. This party hostel lived up to its name for sure. Next up was the party hostel that was located directly in the middle of the city. HOSTEL PACHAMAMA was a crazy party spot that had weekly all-night parties. This is where the beer pong tournaments and chugging contests were as well.

After traveling as much as I have I like to always try to find the hostel that has some social environment but also allows me to have my space if I needed it. That is exactly what HOLA OLA offers. This hostel allowed for private bedrooms as well as a pool for some mid-day relaxing. It was not overly large but had enough people to find some buddies to hang with.

Getting to the Center of San Juan del Sur Nicaragua

This was an adventure of its own. Due to where the hostel was located we had to cross an ocean inlet of sorts every day to get to the town center. A guy in a rowboat would take us across for a few quarters and if you didn’t want to pay to get across it could take you 30 mins to walk around. It was a very well designed hustle that the locals developed. They had a string going all the way across and they would pull the boat back and forth. It was about 40 meters across and you could not walk across, we may or may not have tried one-night ha-ha.

Overall San Juan del Sur embodied the tropical paradise that it was said to be. There is also a very fun hike up to a giant statue of Jesus. It kind of resembles the one in Rio De Janeiro Brazil. San Juan del Sur should definitely make your list if you are looking for a place off the map to relax and go with the flow but also party if you want to.
