When you are a part of the young travel professionals sector you may be under a lot of stress with work. This can cause you to forget the simplest things. Being under so much pressure and responsibility can add up quickly. Research and preparation still need to be done if you want your trip to be successful. Traveling for business on your own can be quite a daunting thought.

Questions will begin to fill your head:

Where do I start?
What do I pack?
Where do I go once I arrive?
Is it safe?
Should I bring 4 laptops or just 1 😆
Will they speak my language?

There are tons of articles out there that will tell you when to pack and how to pack. What I want to focus on in this article is what you might forget to pack. Forgetting certain items can cause minor issues while others could cause major inconveniences. Then there are some items that could derail your trip altogether. Regardless of how many trips you’ve been on mistakes will happen and items will be forgotten. Throughout my travels, I have come across many solo first-timers. The more I met the more I would ask them certain questions. The following are all items that have been forgotten by first-time travelers that I have personally met.

Top 10 Items to be Forgotten by Young Travel Professionals

Passport

This is the single most important item to remember to pack. Generally speaking, travelers will remember this item when they are leaving their home country. Where an issue can arise is when you start using buses, trains, ferries, and other transportation. Remember to get your passport back if the front desk asks to hold on to it. A lost passport can end a trip faster than it started. The number one place I have seen people forget their passport is getting off the airplane. Don’t leave your passport in the seat pocket.

Toothpaste

This one makes me laugh but yes I have forgotten this and its so annoying because after a 10-hour trip I love brushing my teeth. This is a rookie travel mistake but don’t let it happen to you. Other countries will most likely not have your favorite toothpaste.

Phone charger

Just about everyone has forgotten one of these at one time in their lives. It’s so easy to forget so pack 2-3 just in case and don’t make this travel virgin mistake. Other countries use different socket types ao also remember your travel adaptor.

Laundry bag

This one is very important for hostellers, You have to do laundry while you are gone or you are going to smell, that isn’t a suggestion but a fact. Everyone brings the clothing but many forget the bag. Also, remember to grab some traveling detergent sheets. Click Here

Swimsuit

You would think this would be easy to remember when traveling but I assure it is not always the case. Bathing suits are needed in more than just warm climates. I met a group of travelers in Mostar, Bosnia that all forgot swim trunks. Needless to say, they all went and bought some before we went to the waterfalls.

Lip balm

This is an item that I forget all the time. When traveling to different climates and temperatures your lips will need time to adapt. You don’t just need lip balm when going from warm to cold or vice-versa. Lip balm can be used in a variety of situations so grab some and pack it away.

Sunscreen

This is a similar item lip palm where you may think it doesn’t apply to you but its better to be safe than sorry. At least pack away a small tube that you can apply to your face. Being sunburnt is the quickest way to ruining your trip. Ask anyone that has had it happen and I can guarantee they will agree.

Umbrella

This one is a personal preference because it often takes up too much room in your bag. Even collapsible umbrellas off of Amazon take up some much-needed room in the bag. I have personality regretted this one before in Thailand, South America, and throughout Europe on numerous occasions. You get to make the choice.

Snacks

Snacks are an absolute money saver. Just about all snacks can be taken through security at the majority of airports. Snacks alone can save tons of money so make it a habit and begin packing snacks.

Sim card

Sim cards are another money saver. Yes, many phone operators allow for access around the world for 10$-15$ a day but wifi is free throughout the world and how much do you really talk on the phone? A sim card is a great opportunity to save money. If you buy these abroad they will charge you more money.
