What is the Best Time to Visit Cape Town & How?

Anytime is the best time to visit Cape Town

Deciding on the best time to visit Cape Town is only half the equation. The other part of the equation is figuring out how to get to Cape Town South Africa. My journey to Cape Town South Africa started with a train from Johannesburg all the way down to “The Mother City,” Cape Town. I was thinking maybe it would be along the water on the eastern coast and it could be a beautiful 20-hour train ride. Wow, I was completely wrong.

We did not go along the water and went directly through the middle of the country. There was absolutely nothing to see and the onboard food was not amazing either. However, I was lucky enough to get my own compartment which allowed me to get sleep and spread out. Besides that the journey was rather bleak, to say the least. I almost forgot to mention that the train ride was supposed to be 22 hours and ended up being nearly 30 hours long.

Cape Town Awaits

The Mother City was amazing, I had so much fun hiking up and down the mountains. There is a lot of money in this town as well. You wouldn’t know this walking around some areas but there is definitely a rich part. The houses definitely got bigger the closer you got to Lions Head & Table Mountain. Both of these hikes are amazing and you could do both in a day. However, some people may enjoy doing these hikes on separate days because they can be a bit exhausting.

Cape town offers hikes, Ferris wheels, walking tours, urban dancing, history, and so much more. You could find good food all over the place and hostels were everywhere. Spending a week here was not enough. I can’t wait to go back and spend a couple of weeks exploring all that it offers. The Mother City is also a central hub to many of South Africas adventures. These adventures include shark diving, crocodile diving, safaris, penguin watching, and visits to various other attractions.
