Are the Peru Ruins Worth Seeing?

Are you a travel photographer, backpacking hiker, or an adrenaline junkie? If yes, then Peru is the country for you. Once you’ve decided that you are tired of working and you are ready to travel the world perhaps it is time to visit Peru. It is an amazing country that offers everything. It has hikes, oasis, llamas, alpacas, stars, sunny days, cold nights, sand, mud, ancient history and so much more. There are Peru ruins all over Peru so maybe its times you take a month and go explore. 

Machu Picchu is a Mystery

The first thing that comes to mind when thinking about Peru is the mysterious Machu Picchu. There is often a question to the mystery behind the men and women who built it. The structures were built in such remote places. How did they get the materials to build up so high? How have they lasted so long? What was it built to do exactly? These are just some of the questions that scientists and other professionals are still trying to uncover. This is something that I feel many of us see as unimaginable. It can take a town 20 years to fix a road in America. 😆

This phenomenal masterpiece is located on a narrow ridge of 2450 meters. This ridge houses more than 200 hundred structures, they consist majorly of homes and temples. The structures surround a half hectare of vegetation that is fed continuously with open waterways and fountains. It is a lost city that brings up a lot of questions.

A magnificent place that strikes both beauty and wonder. There are no written texts or carvings to hint at any clues or intent of these early settlers Was this the point? Did they want to leave no clues?

Who Really Knows About Peru Ruins

Some scholars think that the stars were most definitely involved when constructing Machu Picchu. When walking around I was able to look through some of the windows and outlets and it was quite intriguing how the stars were always in a direct line of sight. The structure was built brick by brick and they created a masterpiece. Doesn’t this sound similar to how the Pyramids were constructed? The same ideas from across the globe.

When you get to Machu Pichu you get a choice to hike or take a bus. The bus ride is ridiculously scary and you might not want to look out the windows. These buses are no more than a few feet from total cliff drop-offs. These are not little drop-offs either they are hundreds of feet. I had to put on some stand-up comedy of Kevin Hart on Netflix so I would stop looking out the windows.

Machu Picchu Hiking is Calling Your Name

Now, if you’d like to hike up rather than riding the bus that is an option. The hike up is no joke though and it is not recommended for most. If you are feeling bold and want to try then you should definitely do it. This will give you a head start on everyone else because buses only have allotted times they can run.

Once you reach the top your mind is going to be asking all kinds of questions, I would suggest to write them down and research them later. While you are at the top of these amazing structures “take a breath” and enjoy the moments. Regardless of who? why? when? or how? I enjoyed the exploration and felt instantly connected to the ancient Incan people. There is a very interesting vibe that takes place as the sun rises on this mysterious place. If you choose to hike you can watch the sunrise.
