Visiting Volcanoes in Antigua Guatemala
Throughout my travels around the world, I haven’t found many places I’d consider relocating to after just a week. Every city I’ve visited has had its pros and cons but its those magical moments that allow a city to stand out above the rest. Antigua Guatemala is a city that still falls underneath many traveler’s radars. Visiting volcanoes in Antigua Guatemala while roasting a marshmallow on lava is only the start. I hope this article can help you decide to put Antigua on your traveler’s to-do list.

Antigua offers so many ways to enjoy yourself from dancing under the stars, eating amazing food, hiking volcanoes, waterfall day trips, and hundreds of local smiles. The last one is a big one for me because if the locals aren’t happy you are there then the vibe and atmosphere can quickly turn negative. During my week-long stay, I worked out at the Antigua Gym daily and went out to bars and clubs nightly and never felt uneasy. The local people appeared to be delighted I was there and wanted to speak in both English and Spanish.
The Difference Maker
A hostel that goes above and beyond for its guest can be the difference-maker. At the Tropicana hostel, everyone did their part to ensure the hosteller was happy and satisfied with anything and everything. The owners and managers would come into the hostel and just chat with the guest. Dean and Karen went above and beyond to help ensure my time at the hostel was incredible.
The bartenders were fun-loving and eager to make conversation to make you feel welcome. At Tropicana hostel employees really went out of their ways to always be happy and continuously encouraging a positive atmosphere. Pool parties, beer pong tournaments, trivia contests, family dinners, and movie nights occurred daily. Tropicana hostel helped me accomplish some of those incredible bucket list adventures which will be discussed below.
So Much In Antigua
Throughout this week I climbed 3 volcanoes which included Acatenango, Fuego, & Pacaya. Each of these volcanoes 🌋 had its ups and downs, “literally.” The hikes up to the summits were not easy. I’m not the type to beat around the bush and say something was easy if it wasn’t. The hikes were long and exhausting. My body was not happy with me but with all the pain aside, it was defiantly worth it. The sights at the top were incredible and literally indescribable but I’ll attach pictures that will help do the trick.
The mental feeling you got once you reached the top was an emotion that can only be described by completing the task yourself. So, if you have a chance or the desire to make Antigua Guatemala a stop on your next holiday I can 99% assure you it will be amazing and worth every penny spent. Also, remember when you get to Antigua to stop by the Tropicana Hostel. Even if you don’t want to stay in a hostel, they can book any and all of your travel adventure needs.
